COPHENYLCAINE FORTE
(Paedpharm)
Composition:
Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 0.5%, Lignocaine Hydrochloride 5%, Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1 mg/mL.
Action:
Anaesthetic and vasoconstrictor for the preparation of nasal mucosa for surgical procedures.
Indications:
1. Epistaxis for for Little’s area; Cophenylcaine Forte will prepare the mucosa so that adequate cautery of the bleeding points may be performed easily. Alternatively, it may be used to soak nasal packing for more severe cases of haemorrhage.
2. Fibre-optic investigation of upper airways; Cophenylcaine Forte being water soluble will not damage lenses and will provide good anaesthesia and vasoconstriction to allow excellent viewing of the upper airways.
3. Cautery or surgery to nasal mucosa; Cophenylcaine Forte will prepare the nasal mucosa adequately for surgery to nasal tissues.
4. Foreign bodies in the nose – may be easily removed using Cophenylcaine Forte as a topical anaesthetic and vasoconstrictor. 5. Topical anaesthesia for the pharynx for indirect laryngoscopy
